Bio
Born and raised on Long Island, I grew up with skinned knees, dirty clothes, and amazing summer nights. I spent time at beaches, on boats, and playing all kinds of pick-up sports. Backyards, schoolyards, and parks were where I could be found. For the most part, it was a wonderful childhood. Today I live in a small town in upstate NY with my beloved wife and my three sons.

As the oldest of five in a family where the parents started when they were nineteen, I learned something about raising kids. I did housework and watched my siblings, but we didn’t call it chores. It was just what we did. Most of the time, there was stress about finances.

As I got older, I turned toward the wrong things to try and solve all my problems. But that practice proved to be much worse than any of the problems it was meant to fix. I lost many friends and nearly lost my marriage to the person I cherish. Then, something greater than myself stepped in, and it all stopped. As I embraced a new lifestyle, things began to improve.

When I stopped chasing uncatchable things, all kinds of opportunities began to appear. I excelled at work, and my family life got better. I became healthier, and goals I never would have considered before now seemed more achievable. My wife and I bought a house, and we renovated it. We had a child and later adopted a couple more. In just a few years, I had a life beyond anything I ever imagined. Then, the best thing happened… I got fired from my job.

Realizing that I had depended entirely on a position at a large company for my financial security, I looked for a new solution. After a few failed tries, I discovered real estate. I already owned a rental property, but when I realized I could acquire more while keeping my job, real estate became my passion. I wondered why everyone didn’t pursue it. I dove into it like a July pool on Long Island.

By the time COVID arrived, I was writing avidly. After blogging for years and using writing as therapy for everything from isolation to relationships, I decided to bring it all together. Right now, I’m sitting poolside in my favorite writing spot, searching for the “flow zone” where the words pour out of me faster than I can catch them on the page. My sincerest hope is that I can use some of what I’ve experienced in my path to happiness to help others, even in small ways.

The Small Town Investor’s guidance transformed my approach to real estate and financial freedom.
